Inoculations
This week has been a painful one for both myself and Gareth who, stupidly, thought it would be a good idea to see a travel nurse to ask some questions about our little jolly to Africa. This soon resulted in a number of injections for various possible diseases:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid
- Polio
- Diphtheria
- Meningitis
- Tetanus
- Yellow Fever
Ouch!
The Typhoid injection seemed to go to Gareth’s head, causing significant delusion and a selection of random emails on Friday afternoon! He seems to be better now… But it is questionable.
Anyways, if you are planning to travel anywhere soon, why not check out this website: http://vis.apmsd.co.uk/ to find out what you might die from!
Oh, and there’s malaria of course. We are just finding out about that one. Pete received the extensive Plymouth-Banjul Road Book over the email yesterday. It is basically a rough guide to the entire journey including some directions (ie south…), places we will be stopping and staying at and a few tips on how to remain alive. Just skim reading it suggests we have a pretty amazing adventure ahead. I will get Pete to post some of the best bits some time soon for you all to read.
The good news is that our sponsorship has really taken off. We started with 42 squares on the car for people to buy to advertise their companies and with 50 days left before we go, we have sold all but 1! AMAZING. As a result, we have decided to offer up the bonnet space for sale too so if you know anyone who might be interested in getting on board our challenge and support us and our chosen charities, send them our way!
