Team Sanddodgers

Pete thought it was about time we gave a bit more of a team profile, so since my brain has been fried for the day from my research, I though I would take the opportunity. So Starting with the man himself:

Pete

Pete grew up in the flatlands of Norfolk. Slightly distant in his support of Norwich City, Pete was more into driving tractors, rearing cows and hanging onto a kite in gale force winds. Pete excelled in his academic studies to find himself firmly placed at Brunel University studying for a Masters Degree in their Special Engineering Program. Pete’s studies soon took second best when he discovered Ultimate Frisbee, still second priority in his life only to his wife, Jenny. Being a Pillar of spiritual strength, Pete was soon made president of the Christian Union and served for a year from 2000-2001 bringing in many a bureaucratic policy. After graduating with a 1st , Pete landed a job with Metronet where he has been working ever since as an electrical engineer, keeping the heart of our capitals transport system just about coping. Pete will bring a mixture of engineering expertise, electrical knowledge and general interpersonal skills to the team. His diplomacy is known throughout the land.

Gareth

Gareth, the eldest of three Wallace boys is a born and bred Northern Irishman. Growing up with religious conflict on his doorstep has left its mark on Gareth and love and knowledge of all things firearm, tank, missile or warship related is second to none. After a number of years working hard at a prep school in Enniskillen, Gareth came to Brunel to study politics. Living in the infamous ‘The Larches’ residence played a big part in Gareth’s political training as he found himself frequently lobbying to get the washing up done by Tom, Mark stop playing Star Trek, Jon to stop studying and Markus to stop wearing green pants on the outside of his trousers. Gareth also served for a year as PA to former Conservative party leader William Hauge, resulting in the somewhat memorable experience of dipping his tie in Sir Seb Coe’s tea. After graduating with a 2:1, Gareth spent a year as chauffeur for the illustrious Steve Chalke OBE giving him a wealth of driving whilst dangerously tired. Gareth now works as political advisor to Christian charity the Evangelical Alliance and frequently finds himself having tea at Number 10 (AKA the EA refectory). Gareth will be bringing a mixed bag of determination, motivation and border guard tensions to the team.

Jon

Jon was born in the small town of Yeovil in deepest, darkest, Somerset. Unlike the average teenage boy, Jon was regularly in trouble with his mother for one thing or another. A fan of two wheels, Jon used to spend most of his time careering down steep hills with his friends, resulting in a number of minor injuries. Jon became a grease monkey at an early age, taking every opportunity to work on cars and motorbikes whenever there was one parked on the drive. This gave rise to his love for engineering and soon Jon found himself studying for a degree in Mechanical engineering at Brunel University. Maintaining his love for Cars, Jon has owned many a vehicle making his garden look more reminiscent of a scrap yard. Not adverse to getting many an old banger through an MOT, the Saab has proved little challenge. After graduating with a 1 st and motivated by a mixture of tax evasion and the potential of becoming a kept man, Jon decided to enrol for PhD in Motorsport Transmissions at Brunel. Jon can regularly be found trapped in his office behind a pile of books or wandering around Brunel University with a handful of leaky pens in his shirt pocket. Jon will be bringing a wealth of mechanical experience to the team and the critical ability to fix many a car part with gaffa tape.
