…Always take the weather with you
After 2 hours of setting up, and much hype, The Sanddodgers fundraising vehicle hit first gear on Friday… well for a bit anyway!
Having rocked up at Brunel Freshers week with The legend that is Duncan and his mighty scalextric track, we set out to liberate Freshers from their new loans - for charity of course!
Interest was high as we opened to customers, particularly 1 bloke who pretty much hung around all day! After the lunchtime rush disaster struck when a monsoon (evidently on its own ‘cross the world’ challenge) arrived and washed away our punters…
Not to worry - Duncan, Jon and Myself made good use of the track - it’d be wrong not to!
We gave up at 5pm with less than 100 quid in the bank, but with much to take away, including…
- I was faster than Jon
- Heinz Woolf visited, but fobbed us off with an excuse ‘I’m just off to the bank’ - yeah right!
- What takes 2 hours to put up goes away in half an hour
- Duncan has more Scalextric track than Ikea has flat-pack shelves
- Did I mention I beat jon?…
All that given, it looks like Gareth’s taking all the bendy roads as in the end neither Jon or I could keep our cars on the table let alone the track for very long!
