Welcome
So, your probably here because you have just received an email saying ‘please come and look at our site’ from either Gareth, Pete or myself. You may well be wondering what’s going on… well here’s a little introductory post to explain it all.
Back in September, Gareth came up with the crazy idea of doing a charity rally he found out about whilst surfing the internet during time he should have been doing his work…. nothing new! Pete and myself palmed it off as one of Gareth’s crazy schemes, again, nothing new. After Gareth going on and on and on and on about it, we thought we may as well check it out and actually liked the idea. Expecting we probably wouldn’t get in anyway, we sent in an application form and then, what would you know… back at Easter got an email saying we were in… so now we HAVE to do it.
So what it is it? Simply a charity race from over 4000 miles from Plymouth, UK to Banjul, The Gambia, in a left-hand drive car costing less than £100 and on which we can spend no more than £15 to make it road worthy… Simple. On arrival, the car is then sold to the highest bidder and we all catch a flight home, all assuming the car gets there of course. But we are not happy with simply risking life and limb to provide a Gambian gent with a top of the range chicken transporter, oh no, we want to raise £10000 for charity too!
So this is our website, a place we will post comments on our progress, cries for help when we got lost and our Last Will and Testament when we catch bird flu. Please check out all the pages above, there’s stuff about us, the route we will be taking, a list of things we are going to need to get there and perhaps most importantly, a page to start collecting donations as we try and meet our £10000 target……
So place us in your favourites and come back regularly and check on our progress.
Bring on the fun!
