Welcome

Ever dreamed of driving a high performance rally car across the open plains and wastelands of the Sahara? So did we but we couldn’t afford it so signed up for the Plymouth-Banjul banger rally instead.

The Plymouth-Banjul rally is an annual event to drive a car costing less than £100 from Plymouth, UK to Banjul, The Gambia…. a mere 4000 mile trek across two continents and 7 countries in under 21 days.
Team Sanddodgers took part in December 2006 and this is our webhome. It covers the trials and tribulations of our journey in our 1979 Saab 99 Turbo – a real classic!
Read our diary posts in our BLOG, or watch our diary videos covering the highlights of each day. Failing that, why not just browse through the couple of hundred holiday snaps taken by Gareth’s eager trigger finger.

We’d also like to take the opportunity to thank the hundreds of people who generously donated to the two great charities - Tearfund and MacMillan. Thanks to your generosity, with your help, we raised over £18000 including Gordon Brown’s gift aid bonuses. No doubt every penny will go to making peoples lives better. Thankyou.
